STATEMENT: AAPI Victory Alliance Celebrates Biden Signing Rep. Grace Meng’s Asian American Museum Bill Into Law
WASHINGTON — Yesterday, President Joe Biden signed into law H.R. 3525, a bill which takes us one step closer to a national museum dedicated to preserving the history, culture, and accomplishments of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders (AAPI). As the nation grapples with record-high anti-AAPI hate crimes, the enactment of this bill is a momentous step forward in creating a space to uplift the myriad contributions of AAPIs throughout history.
AAPI Victory Alliance Executive Director Varun Nikore issued the following statement:
“We witnessed a historic and exciting moment as President Biden signed into law H.R. 3525, affectionately known as the “AAPI museum bill.” The contributions and history of our AAPI community have, for too long, been overlooked and erased. Today, President Biden demonstrated to the nation that AAPI history is American history.”
“We thank Congress and the Biden Administration for acknowledging the legacy of AAPI history and contributions that have shaped America into the country it is today.”
