AAPIs are the fastest-growing voting bloc in the United States, with an increase of 46% from 2016 to 2020. It’s no surprise then, that AAPI voters made up the margin of difference in crucial battleground states like Arizona and Georgia in the 2020 elections. But none of this progress can continue of we do not fight against efforts to restrict the vote.

In addition to language access issues related to polling information and information on candidates, AAPI voters disproportionately face name matching issues. This is because we tend to have more people with anglicized names that sometimes have non-standard spellings or non-English conventions.

Moreover, AAPIs are often ignored by voter outreach efforts whether from local organizing units, or candidates.
