AAPI Victory Alliance on Biden G20 visit to India, Stop in Vietnam
WASHINGTON — In light of President Biden’s G20 visit to Vietnam and India last weekend, AAPI Victory Alliance issued a statement to honor this alliance between Asian American communities abroad and at home.
AAPI Victory Alliance Executive Director Varun Nikore issued the following statement:
“President Biden wrapped up the G20 summit over the weekend by making a historic stop in Vietnam, as our strategic relationship continues to evolve in positive ways. I am happy to see the emphasis the President placed on improving vital partnerships with Vietnam as well as India. The G20 summit is a critical meeting between leaders of the world’s largest economies, and this new level of partnership and investment is significant because of global challenges like climate change.
"The massive flooding this past April in Pakistan which affected 30 million people, and one-third of the country’s land mass, is just one example of the devastating impacts climate change will continue to have around the globe. This is why going forward, the centerpiece of international relationships must be around the effects of climate change. President Biden recognizes the opportunity the United States has to build our foundation with Asian countries across the world in a new era of cooperation. AAPI Victory Alliance will continue to work to foster better relationships between AAPI diaspora communities. As Asian American and Pacific Islanders living in the U.S., we look forward to bolstering relationships between our native countries and current home.”
