STATEMENT: AAPI Victory Alliance Announces Final Round of Endorsements for 12 AAPI Candidates at the State and Local Levels

WASHINGTON — Today, the AAPI Victory Alliance announced its final slate of endorsements for 12 progressive AAPI candidates at the state and local levels; including 4 candidates running for state legislative positions in target states, 4 candidates running for state legislative positions in non-target states, and 4 candidates running for hyperlocal positions in crucial races. 

As the fastest-growing racial or ethnic group in the U.S., the 24 million AAPI’s make up over 4% of the nation’s eligible electorate.  Between 2016 and 2020,  AAPI’s increased their turnout by over 20% - one of the highest increases of any demographic in history.  Our growing AAPI electorate is at the forefront of shaping a new, progressive America. In less than one week, our AAPI community will turnout, and make our voices heard in critical elections!

 

AAPI Victory Alliance endorses the following target state legislative AAPI candidates for their respective races next week:

  • Farooq Mughal, Georgia House of Representatives, District 105

  • Samuel Park, Georgia House of Representatives, District 107

  • Ya Liu, North Carolina House of Representatives, District 21

  • Maria Cervania, North Carolina House of Representatives, District 41

AAPI Victory Alliance endorses the following non-target state legislative AAPI candidates for their respective races next week:

  • Giang “Jenny” Bui, Rhode Island Senate, District 21

  • Reena Szczepanski, New Mexico House of Representatives, District 47

  • Hoan Huynh, Illinois House of Representatives, District 13

  • Ben Ming, New Hampshire House of Representatives, Hillsborough 35

AAPI Victory Alliance endorses the following hyperlocal AAPI candidates for their respective races next week:

  • Surendran Pattel, Court Judge, 240th Judicial District Fort Bend County, Texas

  • Zohaib Qadri, City Council, District 9, Austin, Texas 

  • Catherine Pozniak, Board of Education Post 4, Cobb County, Georgia

  • Minu Lee, City Council, District B, Raleigh, North Carolina
